Communication Mistake: Men love shopping with women

It’s time to answer the age old question. Do men hate shopping with women? We asked 1,000 men whether or not they hated shopping with their significant other.
An overwhelming 71% of men say yes, they actually do hate shopping with women. When asked why, we received a variety of answers.
“Yes!!!! I hate carrying things and I hate looking at options. When I shop I know what I want and its quick.” – Jon, 21
“Most men hate shopping with women because it appears pointless and indecisive. We take absolutely zero pleasure in looking at the 50th different blouse. It is painful. The best way to sum up men’s approach to shopping to MINIMIZE exposure…i.e. JC Penny’s Men’s Store “Get in, Find it, Get Out” Marketing campaign. Standing in the store looking at the same crap for hours rates up there with dental surgery.” – Jim, 34
“Yes, my wife searches through the store so thoroughly that it is excruciatingly painful. I love my wife very much, but I would rather do anything than go shopping with her. Please don’t make me!” – Jason, 39
18% of men say it depends on a number of factors. It can depend on the girl they are with, past experiences, etc, but they don’t always hate it.
“That totally depends on the girl. If I’m being treated as a tag along, or being used as a utility item (i.e. hold the purse, hold what I’m buying, etc.) then absolutely yes. If she is including me in the actual act of shopping asking what I like, what I think is hot, and can take criticism then I can actually enjoy it. I’ve also found that she will enjoy the shopping experience more also because her boyfriend, me, probably had good feedback to her questions.” – Nathan, 29
“It’s good while shopping for items that we both share an interest in, but for items with no shared interests it’s best to go our separate ways.” – Keith, 53
There are the rare guys that like to go shopping, in fact, 11% of men say they like it. Yes, it’s true ladies; there are some guys that enjoy shopping with you. Why you ask? Let’s find out.
“No I enjoy shopping with women because I want them to come along with me when I do fun things.” – Noah, 27
“If I am interested in what she is shopping for, it can be fun. It only gets boring and annoying if she wants to spend longer shopping for something than I want to. Clothes shopping can be fun if the woman lets us pick out clothes that we want to see her in.” – Ben, 29
Based on the comments and the statistics above, men do tend to hate shopping more than say a trip to the dentist, but that has a lot to do with you too ladies. If you drag him around every store in the mall for hours, he won’t be happy. But if you make it fun for him and make him feel like he’s helping with more than just being your bag boy, he may just enjoy the time you spend together.
